We've done our fair share of researching Aussie slang for our clients from Down Under and this, by far, is the most entertaining that we thought we'd share. Watch to pick up a few Aussie words or just for the fun of it. Enjoy!
WATCH how not to move around during your best man speech.
OUR TIP: Many, if not all, of our wedding cinematographer friends have told us that pacing does not make for great wedding film and have even requested us to pass along this fact to our clients. Well, this short video is further proof that moving around too much during your speech isn't the best idea for not just the wedding film but for you too.

By now you have probably "sat" through a lifetime's worth of best man speeches. From your experience and perspective as a wedding photographer, can you share with us:
Your #1 best man speech pet peeve?
Any of the clearly Googled jokes and phrases "Here's to love, laughter and happily every after", "I hope this is the day that you love each other the least", "John put your hand on top of Katie's, enjoy this moment, this is the last time you'll have the upper hand."
The key ingredients to a great toast by the best man?
Short, sweet, and if you're adding a personal story, make it one everyone can relate to, not "hey remember how fun that Coldplay concert was?"
The best/unique/most memorable thing a best man has ever done during his speech?
Show genuine emotion. There's nothing that'll grab the room like a man verbally, and maybe with a shaky voice, pouring out his heart to his best bud.
The worst thing a best man has ever done during his speech?
Turn into an inappropriate roast that's not funny, but disrespectful to the bride and all of the family and friends.
How a best man is treated after giving a good speech versus a bad one?
With a best man speech I think you can earn respect or loose it very quickly. A good one leads to praise and heartfelt thank yous from the bride and groom. A bad one leads to hoping the videographer forgot to tape it!
Any advice you'd like to share with present and future best men?
Keep it short and sweet, genuine and respectful. And please, stay off of Google!
A big thanks to Vanessa for taking the time to share with us her best man speech wisdom. For more information on Vanessa and her wedding photography company, visit her website: www.vanessajoy.com.
It's September and we are back from our mini summer vacation feeling refreshed and ready for a whole 'nother year of weekly wedding speech videos! The video to start us off is a nod to the recent ruling "allowing" for gay marriages in the U.S.
WATCH how this best man wings his speech. And pretty successfully too.
OUR TIP: You know our thoughts on winging your speech, a long speech, cursing, pacing, and inside jokes but so long as you're confident in your ability to read your audience and come up with cohesive material on the spot then go ahead and wing it.
WATCH how a best man with cerebral palsy delivered his speech at his twin brother's wedding.
OUR TIP: If you suffer from fear of public speaking, lack confidence in your speech, etc. just push all that aside and think of how this best man didn't let his "handicap" get in the way of his speech.
